Christ the King GNS are delighted to announce that we have been awarded our fourth green flag in the theme of travel. All of the staff would like to say a huge well done and congratulations to all of the pupils (and their parents!) for all of their hard work and commitment walking to school every Wednesday. Keep up the great work girls!
Our Green Schools Committee 2017/18
We held our Green schools action day on Wednesday February 14th. The whole school took part in activities throughout the day. We had keep fit with 10 @10, "turn off for twenty" where the whole school turned off our electricity for twenty minutes and a green schools themed table quiz and art. A big thank you to our guest speaker, Patrick Smith from Dublin City Council, who talked to the classes about bins and littering in our area. It was a fantastic day!
We had a Santa hat Walk on Wednesday on the 20th of December. It was lots of fun!
Our school is working towards achieving our fourth Green Schools flag. This year we are working on the theme of Travel. The ultimate aim of the theme is to increase the number of students walking, cycling, scooting, using public transport or carpooling on the way to school. Walk on Wednesdays-W.O.W day On Wednesday 8th of February we held our first W.O.W day of the year. It was a huge success and we would like to thank everyone for their co-operation. This will take place every Wednesday. The aim of Walk on Wednesdays is to increase the amount of pupils travelling to and from school in a green way. A ‘green way’ could be walking, park and stride or carpooling with your friends or neighbours. By travelling to school in one of these ways, you will be helping our school to achieve their fourth green schools flag, as well as doing your bit for the environment! We can’t wait to get started and thank you for all your support!
We have carried out a survey to find out the various ways we travel to school. Have a look at the results.
